Helpless and Gasping

I was making my rounds and putting out food for the wandering stray/feral cats and found a cat that I saw about six months ago who was big and healthy. He was a big fluffy cat full of love but I soon found out that his owner had abandoned him years ago when they moved. I had to control the thoughts that rushed through my mind as I looked at this defenseless cat. I was full of anger but wanted to do something for him since I could not fix his health problems, so I tried making him comfortable. But after a while, I just brought him in the house and thought I would make him comfortable until he died.

How do you leave a pet that was part of your family? People wonder why there are so many animals on the streets but never blame the humans that dump them off or just abandoned them. These people should be paying for their animal’s health or food needs. I bet the jails and prisons would feel up even faster if you forced people to pay fines for the animals the ignore, abuse, or abandoned somewhere. Of course, many elected officials claim that we can not hold people responsible for their pets unless they are in their possession. Many states have laws that could be applied to owners that are abusing or neglecting their pets but it’s very rare for those laws to be enforced. Owners will dump their family pet at a shelter or just abandon them instead of being responsible. These owners cause more stress for people like me and don’t even think about the animals last days or gasping breaths.

This poor creature is so weak and barely able to sit and is not eating or drinking. He chose to just lay down to rest but maybe he thought he would just die. He clearly could not defend himself and the weather is so cold, so I wrapped him in a sheet and laid him in a chair. He sounded horrible! I found myself pacing for hours until I fell asleep. I woke a couple of time through the night and he appeared the same. He was refusing food or water. Then this morning, I was not comfortable leaving him alone. His breathing fast and his heart was racing and I assume his time is almost over. I did not want him to die in the cold alone.

Tears flow from my eyes and thoughts are racing but nothing I can do will save this cat. Heartbroken and helpless!! How many animals die alone because their owners abandoned them? When will the millions of homeless cats be addressed and owners forced to care for these pets? Yes, there are measures in place to help the young cats being adopted from a shelter but what about the people agreeing to take on a pet but not providing the care? It sickens me to know the number of pet owners that will NOT even pause for a hurt or needy animal in their own neighborhoods. These creatures can NOT fend for themselves and are desperate for a loving and caring family!! Please help an animal in your area. Please donate to people like me who are just trying to help those that can NOT help themselves.

Local charity saves a cat in Adrian.

We are a small family living in the small town of Adrian Missouri. We moved back to Adrian after my cancer treatment because I wanted my kids closer to family, while I recovered from the chemo and radiation treatments. We have found ourselves in the middle of a major cat problem, but we love cats and thought we could help them.

I did not realize how many cats were homeless in Adrian, Honestly never gave it much thought. I would always put food outside if I saw an animal wandering around the dumpster. However, I soon realized there was a serious cat problem on our block and no one cared to help me.

My children and I had no idea of the homeless cat problem in Adrian. We were not ready nor prepared to handle a clan to stray/feral cats or the endless problems that would eventually reveal over time. We are devastated because we feel so helpless and frustrated because we could not find anyone willing to help. The stray/feral cats or the endless problems associated with animals left to fend for themselves would reveal over time. We could barely afford to put out dry cat food for the ones we

We could barely afford to put out dry cat food for the ones we have seen, but there had to be more because the food bowls were always empty. Then we decided to try and catch some because we noticed pregnant cats and babies wondering in and out from under our house and other buildings. Then catching them was conquered, but relocating them has been another challenge.

We were told about a couple ladies in the neighborhood that put out food for cats and then we discovered a lot more cats being fed. However, these strays/feral cat only problems only grow over the years because no one would step up and help these adorable cats. They could not stop their population problem because it is mother nature at work in cats.

I discovered another lady on our block that had realized the cat problem and was trying to help. This lady had been attempting to find homes or had dropped some kittens off at city shelters until their fees became more than she and her husband could afford. Which I could relate to those costs because we have tried to cover those expenses plus taking many to the vet.many to the vet.many to the vet.

I had been talking to people on Facebook and trying to find an organization that would help us get some of these cats fixed. I was put in contact with a Friend of KC Animals, Britton Hunter who agreed to help save this injured cat and provide funds to get 5 cats spayed/neutered.

Adopt-A-Cat

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

As families come together, I hope everyone will be happy and safe during the holiday season. Please be aware of moving animals that may not stop for your car. Please consider making a generous donation to a cat shelter, cat rescue or a charity in your area. Shelters are full and looking for foster homes. One person can not conquer the homeless animal problems but a community can unite and make a major impact.

I hope your family and friends will make a small donation to a cat charity be careful of the scams that come to life this time of year.  Shelters are full in my area and have a waiting list for animals needing a home. Please consider visiting a shelter and adopting a pet for Christmas. Animals are in need of a loving family.

I’m looking for others in my area who are willing to help me help those stray/feral cats. I know Adrian has community members who can make a major impact. I know these people do care about the cat problem but do not know how to help. Consider helping me start a TNR program here in Adrian. I want to thank all the wonderful people who have helped me so far.

I want to give a special shout out to Friends of KC Animals for helping me with medical costs even though we are south of Kansas City. Please visit their website at http://friendsofkcanimals.com/. Funds are always needed for medical costs and maintaining a shelter and I hope Bates County will address this matter.

Contact me if you can help at speek1.sp@gmail.com. Every donation matters! We thank you for sharing your time and loving your animals. Be safe during the holidays. God bless you and your family.

Needing Help in Adrian

I am a single mother with great children and we try to help all the homeless animals that find their way into our yard. Some may have even been dumped and found their way to the food we put out every day.

I live in a County that seems to only care about the dogs that are picked up or left at the dog shelter in Butler Missouri. They seem to be full most of the time and do not have the capacity to house cats nor the funds.

I am trying to help with the cat epidemic.  However, feeding and caring have cost more than I can handle on my own. I have gotten many spayed/neutered and their shots before trying to rehome them. That brief moment of joy fades quickly when we face several more cats.

That brief moment of joy fades quickly when we see several more cats struggling in Adrian. I am seeking advice or guidance so I can move forward in the right direction. Help and donations are needed regularly. We are always seeking food and pet carriers, toys, or cash for the surgeries or fees through another animal organization. Please email me anytime

Please email me anytime if you have items that I can pick up. We are always seeking food and pet carriers, toys, or cash for the surgeries or fees through another animal organization. Please consider helping the animals in Bates county.

I am considering opening a small shelter but I need help with that. I am not experienced enough nor do I have the proper permits and licenses. I don’t have what it takes, yet, but I am considering applying appropriate paperwork and move forward.

Let me know what you think. speek1.sp@gmail.com

Adopt-A-Cat Page

A lot of people post things on my Facebook wall but that does not mean I support their statements or the products they are endorsing. However, Adopt-A-Cat is something I am working on to help the stray/feral/ and abandoned cats in our neighborhood. This clan of cats is always growing from adding more babies or someone dumped babies and mother on us. There is no one in Adrian willing to do any thing except issue me a ticket for to many cats but they are not my cats. I merely try to feed them and help them survive the weather elements.
Now I am ready to take Adopt-A-Cat to the next level with your help and donations. There are 25-35 cats that are stray/feral homeless and we want to help them find homes. We are asking for donations to get these cats spayed/neutered with shots so they can be placed in a home. I will use part of my shed for some of the cats after they have been fixed. So please help us start this organization that can help these cats find homes. but there are mo Bates County has several places for dogs
If your interested or know someone who could help us, please contact us. Any donation would be greatly appreciated and you will be able to know where your donations go. We hope to make our book keeping available to the public, so everyone knows where the money is and where more money is needed. Please help me help these cats. Please help save cats from a shelter! Help me keep these cats from people who will not obey the “NO KILL” Ordinances or new policies.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Please contact me.

Trying to help

The Feral female cats have had their spring babies and some are not are wild as they were just a few months ago. Sadly, some of the new-born kittens did not survive. It is heart breaking for us to bury a dead kitten or frustrating to know that I can not help every cat. I have tried to help those cats that will allow us to but many will not approach humans.

We were fortunate to find homes for a few of the new-born kittens but still looking to place more kittens. We are still trying to find homes to place the other cats we have tamed or won their trust. Are you willing to accept or adopt an older cat?. Can you help this neighborhood Feral or stray cat problem? Could you help me find good homes for those cats we tame from the wild?

I am like others, who have chosen to ignore or over look a cat or cats in an area for years. I have had to change since I moved. Those that I acknowledged, I tried to help with food and water but I assumed they belonged to someone. After a few days, I thought they just wondered out and got lost from their families. I admit that I was foolish to think they would find their way home eventually but I wanted to be hopeful.

I had no clue that trying to help these cats would cause them to linger around my home. I, clearly, did not think about the responsibilities associated with helping stray or feral cats. There seems to be fights daily or they are trying to continue their reproduction cycle. We are constantly trying to stop these problems but it is endless. Their bathroom waste brings on other issues that I can not control but I worry about. Many other issues that I worry about and unsure about but seeking help.

After reading about others trying to help cats in their own neighborhoods, I have learned this is a bigger problem then I can handle on my own. It is encouraging to hear and read others trying to impact the cat or dog problems in their area. I feel many have looked the other way long enough. There is enough education available to make everyone a responsible pet owner. Please try to make a difference.

I am seeking others thoughts or suggestions. Please comment or email to speek1.sp@gmail.com.

MAMA Needed

Christina went out to check on kittens in the shed and found those two healthy but without their mother. She heard a noise and went around the shed and found a box of four new-born kittens. Great!! Now we have kittens of all age groups and many without their mothers.

We have been over whelmed by the cats. We have tried to provide food for those that will approach the house for food. I have been asking for people to step up and adopt these cats or for funds to get the cats spayed/neutered. Why are some many people ignoring my pleas? Why is no one willing to claim an animal or offer the help required to care for these animals. The Vets do not want to offer any help unless you pay them and they are refusing to take these motherless cats in. Shame on the Vets that I called because you were no help.

I know there are great people in this world. I know charity is within all of us. Please find compassion or consider an act of charity but please help us today with these cats.We can only do so much!!! I would not ask for help but I am desperate.

Any suggestion?  Please contact me speek1.sp@gmail.com

Babies Need Homes

We have another cat that delivered her babies yesterday. Hard to believe that we have so many Mama cats in one area. Now we have baby kittens behind the house, under the house and now on the porch. We are desperate for good loving homes. Could you help?

I am trying to place these pleas for help in several areas but coming up with no one interested in helping. I do not know what to do. It’s so frustrating and very alarming. I have no clue what is going to happen with all these cats.

Maybe I will have to take them to the shelter in the city. They claim they are a no-kill shelter but I honestly do not know. Do I listen to others or let these cats grow up in the wild? Should I even worry about these cats since they are not mine?

With babies on the porch, seems the male cats are trying to make their mark. It is crazy!!! Please consider helping us. We need loving homes for several cats.

Sad Day for Stray Cats

I have been doing a lot of reading. There are a lot of websites that provide similar information but I have not found any help for the neighborhood cats.  I am very sad, because I have no responses that would lead to help.  Everyone wants me to put out money that I do not have.  I need help and do not want to give up hope.

There is another cat injured in our neighborhood and I can not help him. Sadly, this is not the first cat to show up with a limp and no one will help him. Even if someone would offer, we would probably have a hard time getting him into a cage because he is wild. I am not sure what happened but he will put weight on it if you try to get him but other than that, he walks on three legs.

Someone in this area may be hurting animals but I can not prove it.  The police will not do a thing because I have no proof.  Unfortunately, I have to watch them suffer. I could not even give them any thing for their pain because so many medications will not affect a cat the same as it works on humans.  I am not an expert, so I do not agree, and I have no medical licenses but it is frustrating.

The feeling of hopelessness leaves me sad. The frustration leaves me mad. All these emotions and can only search for help. I know there is someone willing to help or could help but I have to find them.  I know people around me are tired of me talking about these cats but they are able to turn away or ignore them because they do not see them everyday.

So ending this today, I ask you to be kind to your animals and help a stray if you can.

Looking for help

I am still looking for the help to get them all spayed/neutered. I do love kittens but I can not take on another animal responsibility with the number of cats outside. My old dogs do not know what to think about all the cats because they naturally bark and chase after them until the chain stops them.

I have only gotten two email responses from those that I sent out and all the Facebook messages. It is truly sad to ignore someones response. Just say no but ignoring me is rude. How do you feel about not getting a response? Do you all have subjects that get no responses? I am not giving up but very unhappy with the organizations and business’s that claim to help people like me.

At least today, the cats have food and water. I have tried to give love and attention to those cats that would allow me but the other cats are feral. I wish others would stop and try to pet these cats. They do not just stay around my house. I have seen several cats on the move and 5 to 8 blocks from my home. Maybe they are chasing a scent of a cat in heat or just know where to find more food. Sometimes, I wonder if these cats have a home and owner. Is there a human some where not thinking about the reproduction problem on my block? I know it is easy to ignore what is in front of you.

I have noticed a lot of cats making a sinus noise. We have cats that have eye colds that I can verify. However, I am not sure where this problem came from or how to pay to treat all these sick cats. Clearly seems to be passed among cats that eat or sleep in an area. I do what I can to help these cats. Changing out blankets, washing food and water bowels, and picking up feces but will not eliminate everything.

One of our indoor cats had gotten so bad, his eyes were not right because you saw to much of its white lining. Of course the Vet bill was almost $100, for an exam, steroid shot, and antibiotics to take home. Thank God I have not seen the others this bad. If some of these cats were in a home, they would not be exposed to the bacteria or germs in this area. Have you ever thought about the health risk that animals face?

This is another day of blogging. I have heard and seen blogs and comments. I will continue but not sure in what direction. The purpose of this project was to help the cats in this neighborhood stop reproducing so rapidly and find food help. Sadly, I have found out that there are millions of animals struggling to survive and millions lost the fight and were put to death.

My problem is not new and I am not sure how to stop the problem if humans are still allowed to breed or have animal mills or not help responsible for their choices and/or decisions made. I would like to hear your thoughts. If you can help or know someone who is willing to help me, please contact me. Thank you for your time.
